Amarin Thai
Thai Fare
Amarin Thai is like an old friend to me. Always welcomed with open arms, I can disappear for months or years at a time and re-connect with Amarin Thai to a throng of rowdy, fun personalities, great service, and excellent food. Came here with a friend last night to enjoy really good food in a fun-filled environment before a night out in the city.
The Yum Nuah salad was brought out first. On a bed of greens, well-seasoned steak strips were served with an assortment of vegetables and drenched in a citrus dressing that was both spicy and tart: a delicious and refreshing start to the meal. |
Next, a heaping pile of whole mussels was brought to our table in a small clay pot, paired with a citrus and pepper sauce. The sauce, drizzled over the flesh, really brought out the sweet, salty, and savory qualities of this dish. One thing I noticed was there were a lot of shells with no mussel flesh, so what looked like a large pile of mussels was deceiving; in fact, the pile was mostly empty shells. |
Still famished, we heartily dug into the panang curry and brown rice (white/brown rice is provided at an extra charge). We spooned the curry over a small mound of rice and, mid-meal, ordered a second bowl of rice. This proved to be a big mistake since a small bowl of rice is usually enough for a group of two, particularly following a salad and a first entree.
With the delicious food, hospitable service, and light atmosphere, dinner at Amarin was a great way to start the evening before heading out for the night. |
