Chipotle
Mexican Fare

Chipotle is one of those restaurants that doesn't fit neatly into any one single category. With architectural standouts like angular fixtures and interior design focal points like a neutral color scheme, I wasn't so sure Chipotle was a Mexican food restaurant. Where was the blaring mariachi music and bright, gaudy colors? But when I tasted the food, I didn't care that most of the cooks weren't Mexican, that the menu is hard to decipher, or that the restaurant closes at 10p every night. For lunch today, I got the crispy steak tacos and chips & guacamole.

The tacos were so delicious, I tore through the three within ten minutes. The crunchy shell, tender grilled steak, fresh tomatoes and lettuce, luxurious sour cream, herbed rice, and monterey jack cheese melded together so perfectly I couldn't stop eating.

The chips & fresh guacamole were equally tasty. The chips are not only salted, they're slightly lime flavored as well. The complexity of flavors is very unusual and pleasantly surprising. And the fresh guacamole! It's a chunky mix of avocado, onions, and cilantro that complements the chips so well.
